The Task at Hand
After Jesus came alive and immediately before He returned to heaven to rejoin His Father, He left instructions—a job assignment—for those who believe in Him. Jesus said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
“Make disciples of all nations” boils down to telling others about Jesus and how believing in Him has changed your life. Jesus commissioned us to do this, that’s why these verses are referred to as the “Great Commission.” As we share our life with others around us and share the love that we have for God with them we will have opportunity to tell them of Jesus. Your life can be a great witness to them of the power of God to change a life. They will want to know more about the Jesus you love. They, hopefully, will become a disciple—just like you!
